Leslie and Iris Hemmingson
Dear Taute family,
We were out of town in February, and are just now reading the papers. We see that Arthur Taute has passed to his next life. We are very sorry that we were unable to be at his memorial service and to meet the family. We are, also, actually family. Leslie's mother was Hattie Taute, born near Kadoka, SD. So, we have felt a great affinity toward Arthur these many years. Les also, as a veterinarian, took care of Arthur's pets. Iris and Arthur shared many good visits when we would meet on his walks or her walks. As a side note, when I was researching the Taute lineage, I discovered a book written by Louella Marguerite Taute Whisler Graham in 1998. I ordered a copy and have had great fun with it, and actually have felt a greater affinity to the city of Leeds, where Arthur grew up.
The book has given many people great pleasure. I have given several programs, two in public at the Christian Women's Club in Le Mars and have loaned the book to some family members. Louella Taute was apparently quite the woman, and certainly can tell a story!!! As could Leslie's mother, Hattie Taute Hemmingson.
We express our sympathy to you, Arthur's family, though a bit late.
