William Dean Neubrand was the first of five children born to William J. and Madeline (Reuter) Neubrand. Bill attended school at Gehlen Catholic, graduating in 1957. Upon graduation, Bill worked for his father in the construction business. Following his father's death in 1979, Bill assumed Neubrand Construction and continued the tradition of building fine homes in Le Mars. Along with construction, Bill served in the Iowa Army National Guard, Company K Division, based in Le Mars.

Bill's real passion in life was state and county fairs, feeding cattle and attending auctions. However what seemed to give Bill the greatest satisfaction was the fairs. From showing livestock at the Plymouth County Fair while participating in 4-H to serving on the Plymouth County and the Iowa State Fair Boards and State Fair Association, Bill dedicated 47 years to service. He held various offices on the county and state level and was well known as he attended all the county fairs in Northwest Iowa.

He started feeding only a few cattle at age 18. He later became more involved in the cattle business and fed at several confinements in the Midwest. His leisure time was spent at household, farm and antique auctions. If not, he was playing cards and visiting with friends at the legion club. He was also kind enough to visit relatives and friends in the hospital and nursing home.

Bill was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Wasmer Post #241 of the American Legion.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Ann and Darrell Muir of Palm Coast, Florida; brothers, Don and Mary Lee Neubrand of Le Mars, Iowa and Dennis Neubrand of Le Mars, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Sandy Neubrand of Auburndale, Florida; 11 nieces and nephews, and 19 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Chuck.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church building fund, Plymouth County Fair and the Iowa State Fair.
