It was at Briar Cliff that she met Kenneth Hoss at a school dance. They were united in marriage on July 5, 1958, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Armstrong.
The couple lived in Le Mars and Waunita found work as a Nurse's Aide at Sacred Heart Hospital from 1957 to 1958. Waunita then raised 6 beautiful children while working hard on the farm with Ken. Waunita was an active member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars. She was the past president of Christian Mothers and also active in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas where she served as Regent for 4 years. Both Waunita and Ken instilled in their children the love of music for Christ and sang in the church choir for over 25 years. She was a Eucharistic Minister, a lector, participated in Adoration and was part of the prayer chain at St. Joseph Church. Waunita enjoyed playing Pinochle with a group of lady friends for over 30 years, as well as played card with church groups, friends and family.
