Obituary for Ted Stoltenberg Ted Stoltenberg, 81, of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa, Arizona. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus. Rev. Ron Rice will officiate. Burial will follow at Marcus Amherst Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church prior to the service.

Ted Stoltenberg was born April 8, 1935 in Galva, Iowa to Max & Ada (Clapsaddle) Stoltenberg. He attended school at Galva through 2nd Grade when his family moved to a farm south of Cushing, Iowa where Ted finished school. Ted began farming while he was still in high school.

After graduating, Ted continued farming and married Donna Birch in 1953. The family moved to a farm north of Marcus where they farmed and Ted drove truck. When they retired from farming and truck driving, Ted & Donna moved to Marcus. Ted lost Donna in 1999. Ted spent his summers in Marcus and winters in Arizona. He married Ruth Hyslope in 2001. They spent summers in Marcus and winters in Arizona for 15 years. In October of 2016, Ted and Ruth moved to Arizona permanently.

Ted enjoyed coffee and talking (mostly talking) with the guys in the mornings. He attended the Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, visiting friends, and driving around looking at the crops. He always had a story ready for anyone he met.

Ted is survived by his wife, Ruth of Mesa, AZ; son; Bob (Camie) Stoltenberg of Harlingen, TX; stepchildren; Randy (Trish) of Aurora, IL; Gerald (Arlene) Chandler, AZ and Janell (Lee) Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren; Christopher and Jennifer; and five great-grandchildren.

Waiting for him in heaven are his parents; first wife, Donna; and his son, Marc.
