Obituary for Steven Douglas Geringer Steven D. Geringer, 63, of Le Mars, formerly of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Careage Hills in Cherokee, Iowa. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus, Iowa. Rev. Kevin Roop will officiate. A private family burial will take place at Marcus Amherst Cemetery.

Steven Douglas Geringer was born on November 24, 1953 in Marcus, Iowa to Harold Sidney and Alice (Dunn) Geringer. He graduated from Marcus High School in 1972. After school, Steven attended the police academy and took a position as a police officer in Marcus and Remsen, Iowa. He also worked at the Juvenile Detention Center. Steve's last occupation was a janitor at the Marcus Meriden Cleghorn High School. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Katie; a sister, Gladys Means and her husband, Vernon of Marcus, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; and two brothers, Don and Chuck Geringer.
