Jul 2, 1950 — Sep 1, 2024
Stephen "Steve" B. Golladay, 74, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 1, 2024, with his family by his side. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. Timothy Geitz of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation with the family present will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Abiding by his wishes, cremation will take place with a private burial at a later date. Steve was not a fancy man, so causal dress is requested.
Stephen B. Golladay was born July 2, 1950, in Harrisonburg, Virginia to Franklin and Lillian (Burkett) Golladay. His family moved to Iowa in the mid 1950's. On April 27, 1968, Steve married Linda Kelly in Webster City, Iowa. Steve worked in the automotive and trucking field for most of his life. His job working with Goodyear Tire transferred him to Le Mars, Iowa in 1983. After his job with Goodyear, he worked for various trucking companies driving long haul and has seen many of the 50 states. He finally settled on working for Schuster Co. as a truck driver and eventually began working in the office as a truck dispatcher, where he was simply known as "Tee". He was employed with Schuster for 33 years. Due to his declining health, he retired in 2020.
In his younger years, Steve could be found tinkering on cars in his backyard and racing cars at the fairgrounds in Webster City. He loved to play golf and continued up until his health declined. You could also find him watching golf on TV as well as many other sporting and NASCAR events. He and Linda loved to watch old time western shows. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He loved his pets just as he loved his family.
Steve will lovingly be remembered by his wife, Linda of Le Mars, IA; daughters, Stevette (Scott) Linden of Le Mars, IA, Jennifer (Bret) Wilde of Sioux Falls, SD, Wendy Golladay (Jeremy Murfin) of Le Mars, IA, son, Brent (Nicole) Golladay of Ramona, CA; 24 Grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sister, Deane (Larry) Olson of Crozet, VA; brothers, David Golladay of Ames, IA, Terry (Robin) Golladay of Kamrar, IA and Todd (Kris) Golladay of Ames, IA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin (1958); mother, Lillian (2021); grandson, Noah Wilde (1998); and an infant son (1970).
