Shirley R. Prochello, 81, of Hinton, Iowa passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Embassy Rehab and Care Center in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Pastor Jim Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Merrill, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 9 and will continue until the funeral service.

Shirley Ruth Prochello was born on September 21, 1939, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of John "Jack" Harlan and Vivian Ruth (Hult) Husted. After graduating from high school in South Sioux City, Nebraska, Shirley attended Barber College.

For many years, Shirley operated The Hinton Barber Shop from her home in Hinton, Iowa.

She was a member of Glendale Baptist Church in Sioux City, Iowa. She was also a 25-year member of the Merrill Lions Club. Shirley enjoyed crocheting, visiting with friends and family, dining out and even did some square dancing in her earlier days.

Grateful to have shared her life is her daughter, Lisa Johns of Rock Valley, IA; grandchildren, Veric Swenson, April Pauly and William Zeman all of Sioux City, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Dominic and Amarey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Sheryl Zeman on April 13, 2017; and a brother, Harlan Husted.
