Shirley Penning, 85 of Le Mars, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026 at Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen, Iowa.

Family will be having private services. There will be a burial at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars at a later date.

Shirley Anne Penning was born on June 24, 1940 in Le Mars, Iowa to William and Harriett (Harker) Penning. She graduated from Central High School in Le Mars in 1958. Her work history primarily included working at a local bakery.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Shelly Flores; granddaughters: Jennifer (Zach) Kopecki and Destiny (Michale) Unterholzner; great grandchildren: Maddie, Noah, Zoe, and Aida; and other extended relatives.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Harriett; and brothers: Wendell Penning and Lowell Penning.
