Obituary

Scott Williams, 69, of Merrill, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City.

Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Burial will follow at Liberty/Perry Township Cemetery, rural Hinton, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from noon until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

Scott Richard Williams, the son of Richard Williams and Jean Smith, was born on December 2, 1955, in Yankton, South Dakota. Shortly after he was born, the family moved to California while Richard was serving in the military. After his father's discharge, they moved to the Sioux City area. He attended school in Hinton and graduated from Hinton High School.

Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in Michigan. While in the service, he worked in fire service. Following his discharge, he moved to Casper, WY, where he was a firefighter at the Casper, WY airport for 10 years. He then moved to Des Moines, and he worked as an operations officer for the Des Moines Airport until his retirement. Following his retirement, he moved to Merrill. Aside from working, Scott enjoyed photography.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Richard (Beverly) Williams of Merrill; his brother, Larry Williams of Merrill; his step siblings: Rodney (Kathy) Sitzmann, Guy (Nancy) Sitzmann, Steve (Deon) Sitzmann, Jamie (Barb) Sitzmann, and Lynette (Frank) Harvey; his stepsister in law, Deb Sitzmann; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean; and a stepbrother, Craig Sitzmann.
