Sandra Ludwigs, 81, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church – Grant Township, rural Le Mars, Iowa. Reverend Trish Underberg will officiate. Burial will follow in Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.mauerjohnsonfh.com.
Sandra Jean Singer, the daughter of Raymond 'Kelly' and Eileen (LaBahn) Singer, was born on April 4, 1944, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa. She grew up in Merrill where she attended school.
Sandra met Leo Ludwigs and they were later married on July 14, 1962, at Christ Lutheran Church. They made their home on the Ludwigs family farm near Le Mars where Sandra was a homemaker for her family. She also worked for a short time at the grocery store in Ireton. Leo passed away on January 12, 2020.
Sandra was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She and Leo took trips for their anniversaries, Hawaii for their 25th and Arizona for their 40th. She enjoyed watching old westerns, Elvis movies, and playing pinochle. She loved to cook and bake. Doing felt coloring and diamond painting was also an enjoyment. She was an avid fan of Daniel O'Donnell. She took many trips to Branson to watch him perform. She loved her pets, especially her cats and dogs. She had a special spot in her heart for her grandchildren and took time with them when they visited the farm.
Survivors include her children: Rhonda (Rick) Lancaster of Le Mars, IA, and their children: Taylor (Derek) Conyers and Megan Lancaster (fiancé, Majed Al-Harthi); Terry Ludwigs of Le Mars, IA, and his daughter: Ashley Scarlett and her children, Kamden, Kinley, Addilyn, and Easton; Janet (Phil) Niehus of Le Mars, IA, and their children: Neil Niehus (Kelsi Wright) and their children, Brantley and Harper and Noah. Nichole Niehus and her children, Keylyn and Jaydyn. Logan (Taylor) Niehus and their children, Sawyer and Stetson; Joel Ludwigs (Melissa Most) of Le Mars, IA; and Troy (Kerri) Ludwigs of Le Mars, IA, and their children: Ellie Ludwigs and her daughter, Vivienne, Wylie Ludwigs (Nicole Betsworth), and Cambrie Ludwigs; her siblings: Mary Rieken of Merrill, IA, William Singer of Sioux City, IA, and Linda Duncan of Arizona; a brother in law, Darrell Hageman of Hinton, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother in law, Otto and Frances Ludwigs; her husband, Leo Ludwigs; her siblings, Kevin Singer, Guy Singer in infancy, and Peg Hageman; and her faithful companions, "Muffin" and "Brandy".
