Ruth went on to attend Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa and earned a secretarial degree. It was there that she met a young woman in her English class with the same last name, Grace Pratt. Grace and Ruth became roommates and Grace eventually introduced Ruth to her brother, Ben. Ruth and Ben were married November 27, 1942, in Hiawatha, Kansas. During their retirement years, winters were spent in Apache Junction, Arizona. She led bible studies at their park in Arizona and together Suzy would sing and Ben would run the sound system.
