Obituary for Marjorie Bernice Schmid Marjorie B. Schmid, 96, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. Father Kevin Richter will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Marjorie Bernice Schmid was born on September 23, 1917 in Le Mars, Iowa to M.E. (Michael) and Agnes (Foley) Hentges. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Le Mars in 1935. On February 22, 1938 Marjorie and Oscar Schmid were united in marriage at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. They made their home in Merrill, Iowa. In 1949, Marjorie took a position at the Merrill school district with the hot lunch program. She kept that position for the next 20 years. After that she went to work at Harrison's variety store in Le Mars. Marjorie retired in 1982.

Marjorie was a member of Assumption Church in Merrill and participated in guild. She was an accomplished seamstress and sewed numerous things for her family. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting. Many of her projects earned blue ribbons and some even earned grand champion status at the county fair. Marjorie lived at Prime Living Apartments in Le Mars until February of this year when she moved to Brentwood Good Samaritan Village.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Arnold (Julie) Schmid of Geneseo, IL, Kathleen (Gene) Kipp of Le Mars, IA, Allen (Pam) Schmid of Selah, WA and Kenneth (special friend Barb Johnson) Schmid of Aurora, NE; grandchildren, Angela Rusk, Amy Halverson, Lisa Kipp, Nick Kipp, Allison Bowen and Matthew Schmid; great-grandchildren, Jackson Schmid, Joe and Madeline Kipp, Max Mayer, Greg Rusk, Alexis Bowen, Brody and Mazie Schmid; sisters, Mary Hentges of Van Nuys, CA and Lois (Louis) Armendarez of Sun Valley, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar; and infant son, Dean; grandson, Patrick Schmid; a sister, Helen Haverkamp; brothers, Harold, Richard and Earl.
