Marjorie Edith Kramer was born on November 9, 1937, in Le Mars, Iowa, to Louis Kramer and Mabel (Miller) Kramer. Marjorie graduated from Le Mars Community High School and attended Westmar College. Marjorie was a trailblazer for women in business for her time. She took great pride in working directly for owners Fred and Faye Wells at the Wells Dairy office, retiring after 40 years.
Not many people have the special relationship with her family that Marjorie did. She never married or had her own children but her nieces and nephews were particularly close.
Marjorie was an excellent seamstress creating beautiful bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and baby outfits for her family. Soon she caught the quilting bug making beautiful intricate quilts. Diane Jones was a special work colleague who became a partner in their late-night quilting sessions. Marjorie was generous with her skills, donating countless quilts, kids coloring bags, crib sheets, dolls and bears to various causes. Her endless talents included gardening, canning, crocheting, and reading. There was often a puzzle in progress at her house that we could not help but be drawn to.
Marjorie was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Le Mars. She loved attending services and providing food for various events. Her church family has been a wonderful support for her, especially Lisa Meredith and her Pastor, Jon Meredith.
During her stay at Accura Health Care, she became a staff favorite. She rarely complained of her ailments even though she was not happy about her inability to return to her home after a fall earlier this year. Marjorie often expressed her surprise at the number of visitors that she received–a testament to how very loved she was.
Marjorie was selfless and fiercely independent. In her later years, she was reluctant to accept help from her family and dear friends. She had an easy smile and gracious nature. People were drawn to her quick wit, bit of sarcasm which will be fondly remembered.
She is survived by her nephews, Dean, Robert (Sheila), James (Dawn), Richard (Agnieszka), Forrest Lee (Mona), and Kyle (Lisa) Kramer, and her nieces, Joan (Tom) Loew and Marie (Dean) Plueger; along with many great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and their wives, Charles and Lillian Kramer and Forrest and Joyce Kramer, and her niece Ann Kramer.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We were so blessed to have her in our lives!
Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church or Life Skills Training Center.
