Obituary

Lucille Lehner, 88, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. James Church in Le Mars. Father Doug Klein will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. and Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church on Saturday prior to Mass.

Lucille Rose Lehner was born on November 15, 1935, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Mathilda (Bohlke) Schierholt. She attended St. Catherine's Catholic School in Oyens, Iowa, before graduating from Remsen St. Mary's Catholic High School in 1953. Following high school, Lucille graduated from the National Business Training School in Sioux City, Iowa in 1955. Her first position was with Wells Blue Bunny in Le Mars. She later worked at Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen, Iowa.

On May 7, 1957, Lucille and Andrew Dale Lehner were united in marriage at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens. Lucille and Dale farmed and raised their children near Oyens. They spent winters in the south.

Lucille was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars. When she wasn't working and helping on the farm, Lucille enjoyed playing cards and games and visiting family and friends.

Grateful to have shared her life are her children, Barbara (Charles) Hoss of Mesa, AZ and their children, Andy, Jon, and Alex, Steve (Roxie) Lehner of Le Mars, IA and their children, Angie and Amy, Joe Lehner of Remsen, IA and his children, Ben and Branden, Mike (Sandy) Lehner of Remsen, IA, and their children, Justin and Samantha; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale on April 8, 2008.
