Obituary for Loretta Mae Carney Loretta M. Carney, 80, of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Earnest – Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus. Rev. Liz Pfeifle will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date at Marcus – Amherst Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Earnest – Johnson Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 p.m. and a prayer service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Loretta Mae Carney was born on July 18, 1933 in Orange City, Iowa to Walter and Jennie (Smits) Schreur. She was raised in Alton, Iowa and graduated from Alton High School in 1952.

On December 31, 1954, Loretta and Earl Carney were united in marriage at Alton, Iowa. Loretta was a devoted wife and mother as she raised her five daughters. She enjoyed playing cards and fishing with her close friends. Friday nights were spent dining out with her good friend Darlene.

Loretta's favorite pastime was spending time with her girls (known as Earl's Girls) as they made their annual shopping trip to Sioux Falls. "Shop till you Drop" was their motto. Also on the top of her list was the time spent at her grandchildren's events. Her family will miss her famous banana bread she baked each Christmas.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sheri Robinson of Cleghorn, IA and her children Dana Robinson and Lyndi (Adam) Wakefield, Debra (Tim) Galles of Marcus, IA and their daughter, Angie (Mike) Fisch, Peggy (David) Duncan of Hartley, IA and their children Daniel, Kevin and Jeff (Paige) Duncan, Julie (Steve) Boever of Hartley, IA and their children Sara (Kyle) Brigham and Mike Boever, Tracy (Jerry) Loutsch of Oyens, IA and their children Courtney and Jacob Loutsch; great-grandchildren, Miranda and Nathan Fisch, Katelyn and Wyatt Bringham; sisters, Joyce (Harold) VanWettering of Hospers, IA and Geraldine Schreur of Alton, IA; brothers, Ray (Bev) Schreur of Alton, IA and Arend (Bev) Schreur of Sioux City, IA; sisters-in-law, Leona Schreur of Alton, IA and Verona Lubben of Le Mars, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl on December 11, 2005; sisters, Dorothy Lubben and Gertrude Gustad; brother, Robert Schreur; and brothers-in-law, Andy Gustad and Earl Lubben
