Obituary for Lillian Catherine Marie Ludwigs (Jelken) Lillian C. M. Ludwigs, 93, of Le Mars passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Le Mars, Iowa. Rev. Shawn Brooks will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Tuesday. Lillian Catherine Marie Ludwigs was born on May 29, 1925 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Henry Sr. and Anka Margaret (Kruse) Jelken. She was confirmed on September 18, 1938. Lillian graduated from Le Mars High School in 1943. She would later receive a teaching certificate from Westmar College and teach in area rural schools.

On May 3, 1945, Lillian and Harry J. Ludwigs were united in marriage at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Akron, Iowa. They made their home on the family farm in Grant Township. Plymouth County, Iowa. On the farm, Lillian enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, raising chickens and her dogs and cats. She also knitted and crocheted along with playing the piano and the accordion.

Lillian was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, rural Le Mars. At church she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and sang in the choir. She was also a Farm Bureau member.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, David Ludwigs and his wife Ramona of Le Mars, IA; a daughter, Anita Ann (significant other, Brian) Meyers of Le Mars, IA; a son-in-law, Robert (the late, Patricia Ann) Plueger of Le Mars; 13 grandchildren, Sheila Ludwigs, Jeremy Sjovall, Jill (Jon) DeRocher, Nick (fiancé, Kammi) Meyers, Ryan (girlfriend, Kylie) Meyers, Kim Smith, Carrie-Ann (Robbie) Trometer, Kelly (special friend, Stephen) Plueger, Theresa (Ron) Schneider, Aleisha (Joe) Grasz, Shahin (Scott) Eilts, Marty (Jenie) Plueger, Jacy (John) Reeker ; 27 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry on May 29, 1992; an infant daughter, Catherina Marie; a daughter, Patricia Ann Plueger; a granddaughter, Brenda Sjovall; and a great-grandson, Adam Schneider.
