LaDonna Stangby, 91, of Le Mars, Iowa, died on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Accura Healthcare of Le Mars.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Reverend Steven Broers from St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars will officiate. Burial will be at the Remsen Cemetery in Remsen, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.mauerjohnsonfh.com.
Memorials can be directed to St. Croix Hospice and the Floyd Valley Healthcare Auxiliary.
LaDonna Jean Haack, the daughter of Roy and Edna (Hanno) Haack, was born on October 31, 1933, in Remsen, Iowa. She grew up near Remsen and attended country school. She attended high school in Remsen and graduated from Remsen High School in 1952.
She was united in marriage to Delton Schroeder. To this union, 6 children were born: Dave, Doug, Deb, Dennis, Dan, and Diane. They later divorced.
LaDonna attended Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City where she received her certified nursing assistant degree. She worked in healthcare in Le Mars until her retirement. Following her retirement, she volunteered as a greeter for Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars. She was honored for her volunteerism by Floyd Valley Healthcare. She received an award for volunteering over 2500 hours with the hospital.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars where she taught Sunday school. She loved watching sports, especially basketball. She was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. She also enjoyed watching the NBA and the WBNA. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Dave Schroeder of Paullina, IA, Doug (Barbara) Schroeder of Decorah, IA, Deb Swift (Keith Koopman) of Le Mars, IA, Dennis (Tammy) Schroeder of Manning, SC, Dan (Deb) Schroeder of South Sioux City, NE, and Diane LeBlanc (fiancé, Chris Wurth) of Dakota Dunes, SD; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a brother, Marlin Haack of Georgia; and a former sister in law, Janet Haack of Le Mars, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ronald Haack; a son in law, Larry Swift; and a nephew, Rick Haack.
