Obituary for Karen Kathleen "Kay" Fiedler (Hettwer) Karen Kathleen Fiedler was born on November 20, 1945 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Sadie (Grothie) Hettwer. She was raised in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars High School. Following her education, Kay took a position at the truck stop in Le Mars.

On February 13, 1965, Kay and Ron Fiedler were married in Le Mars. Kay worked at various jobs including cleaning homes, working at McDonalds' and as a certified nursing assistant at various nursing homes.

In her spare time, Kay enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She liked camping and spending winters in the south.

Kay is lovingly remembered by her four children, Rhonda and Steve Essick of Spencer, IA, Steven and Mary Fiedler of Spencer, IA, Andy Fiedler of Remsen, IA and Jason Fiedler and special friend Amanda Norris of Fostoria, IA; two grandchildren, Zoe and Zia Fiedler; a special friend, George Reining and his family of Garretson, SD; sisters, Mary Louschen and DeLores Hoxsie both of Le Mars, IA; a brother, Butch Hettwer of Evansville, IN; sisters-in-law, Shirley Hettwer of Le Mars, IA and Marian Hettwer of Sioux Falls, SD; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Judy Dreckman and Carlene Petersen; three brothers, Kenneth, Ray and Bob Hettwer.
