Karen M. Bugge, 70, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars. A Celebration of Life and Sharing Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Karen Marie Mohning was born on May 6, 1953, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Arnold and Hilda (Kuttler) Mohning. She attended Le Mars Community High School, graduating in 1971. She later earned an Associates' Degree in accounting from Western Iowa Technical Community College in Sioux City, Iowa. Her first position was with Goldsmith Trucking in Sioux City. Karen then began her 31-year career with Wells Dairy in Le Mars. She retired in 2016.

In her spare time, Karen enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. She was an avid reader, crocheted many blankets for her nieces and nephews, and later, their children. Her greatest passion was sports of all kinds, sometimes getting up in the middle of the night to watch an international sporting event. Her Iowa Hawkeyes and the Raiders were her favorite teams. She also had a close knit group of friends she loved spending time with.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Heath Bugge of Le Mars, IA; her siblings, Linda (Russ) Mayrose of Le Mars, IA, Steve (Kris) Mohning of Adel, IA, John (Bonnie) Mohning of York, NE, Tom (Deb) Mohning of Columbus, NE, Allan (Kathy) Mohning of Sparta, GA and Laurie Mohning of Lompoc, CA; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Ronald Mohning; and a sister and her husband, Rosanne and Dave Olson; and a brother-in-law, Chuck Rollinger.
