Jonathon T. Geitz, 29, of Fort. Dodge, Iowa, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Rev. Bruce Jackson will officiate. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Wahpeton, North Dakota. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.
Jonathon Timothy Geitz was born on April 23, 1991 in Sibley, Iowa, the son of Susan (Mumm) and Rev. Timothy Geitz. He was Baptized on May 5, 1991 in May City, Iowa and Confirmed on May 21, 2006 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He attended school in Fort Dodge until his family moved to Le Mars, Iowa in 2009. He graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 2010. Jonathon furthered his education at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska where he earned a degree in Business Administration.
Out of college, Jonathon was the assistant director of food services at Lunch Time Solutions in Dakota Valley, South Dakota. He most recently held positions as Sam's Club and Hy-Vee Grocery Store. He was currently enrolled at Iowa Central College in Fort Dodge where he was studying computer networking.
In his spare time, Jonathon was an avid reader and enjoyed gaming. In his younger years, he enjoyed Cubs Weeks and worked as a lifeguard for three summers at Camp Okoboji. Jonathon liked to play cards and Cribbage with his dad.
Grateful to have shared his life is his parents, Susan and Rev. Timothy Geitz of Le Mars, IA; a sister and her husband, Megan and Tanner Ties and their daughter, Everly of Minneapolis, MN; a brother, Samuel Geitz of Fort Dodge, IA; a sister, Abigail Geitz of Le Mars, IA; and a brother, Luke Geitz of Le Mars, IA; his grandparents, Bonnie and Dale Mumm of Wahpeton, ND and Rev. Darrel Geitz of Seymour, IN; aunts and uncles, Stacey and Kyle Enochson of Wahpeton, ND, Sheryl Mumm of Glencoe, MN, Kristen and Dustin Mumm of Wahpeton, ND, Nola and Brad Steier of Bismarck, ND, Melanie and Phil Graul of Evansville, IN, Kristen Steward of Seymour, IN and Becky and Bob Smith of Seymour, IN.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Anita Geitz.
