John Hoss, 61, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be at noon on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Chris Meier will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

John Michael Hoss was born on February 6, 1957 in Le Mars, Iowa to Don and Freda (Hochstein) Hoss. He graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School in Le Mars is 1975. During his high school years he worked with Matt Walker Construction.

After graduation, John made his home in Omaha, Nebraska where he worked for FedEx. He later took a position with Wells Blue Bunny in Omaha and Le Mars. His last occupation was in the Bakken Oil Fields in North Dakota. Upon his retirement, John returned to Le Mars.

In his spare time, John enjoyed fishing and spending time with his high school friends. He was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

John is survived by his three daughters, Tiffany (Ted) Manos, Briana (Christian) Haack and Amber (Ryan) Nightser all of Omaha, NE; former spouse, Debbie Hoss of Omaha, NE; sisters, Kate Hoss of Omaha, NE, Janet Cleary of Prescott, WI and Mary Ellen (Joe) Sabers of Ames, IA; a brother, Jerry (Nancy) Hoss of Akron, Iowa; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
