Obituary for Jerry Herbold Kingsley, Iowa – Jerry Herbold, 73, of Kingsley passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Unity Point Health-St. Luke's in Sioux City, Iowa. . Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Kingsley, Iowa. Father Mark Stoll will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Johnson - Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. The family will be present from 5-8 p.m. with a rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a scriptural prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Jerry Lavern Herbold was born on January 29, 1941at home in rural Woodbury County, Iowa to Lavern and Vera (Graham) Herbold. He received his education in Kingsley, Iowa and graduated from Kingsley High School in 1959 and then began farming with his parents on the family farm. Jerry farmed the home place for 52 years. His passion was raising black cattle.

On September 17, 1960 Jerry and Lea Fokken were united in marriage at St. Michael Catholic Church in Kingsley. They moved to the family farm in 1962 where they raised their four children. When he wasn't raising crops and feeding cattle, Jerry followed his children's and grandchildren's activities, rarely missing an event. He also served on various boards including the Farmer's Coop Elevator and the Woodbury County Fair Board. Jerry was a founding member of the Rocking K Saddle Club.

Grateful to have shared his life is his wife of 54 years, Lea of rural Kingsley, IA; son, Shennon of Anthon, IA, daughter Cozette Moffatt and her husband Scott of Whitewater, WI, a son, Lance and his wife of Debra of Urbandale, IA and son, Dustin and his wife Jody of Kingsley, IA; six grandchildren, Sam and Jake Moffatt, Colton and McKenna Herbold, August and Gabriella Herbold; and a sister, Kay Powell of Vermillion, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant twin daughters, Karla and Kim.

Memorials may be directed to the John Atkinson Lung Cancer Foundation or the Woodbury County and Plymouth County Fair Boards to promote and support 4-H programs.
