Janet Joyce Rachuy, 71, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars, Iowa. Rev. Christian Meier will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Craig, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.
Janet Joyce Rachuy was born on February 1, 1950, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Eddie and Reaka (Cramer) Baack. She was Baptized in the Lutheran Faith at the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City. Janet was Confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig, Iowa. She has remained a lifelong member of the Lutheran Faith since birth.
Janet attended school in Le Mars, Iowa, graduating in 1968. She later graduated from Beauty School that same year. She married Garry Rachuy in 1968, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. She enjoyed listening to Elvis, collecting Mickey Mouse and Barbies as well as decorating for Christmas.
She is survived by her husband, Garry Rachuy; a son, Scott Rachuy; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Ethan and Faith; a former daughter-in-law, Patricia Rachuy; a sister and her husband, Janyce and Dick Schietzelt all of Le Mars, IA; numerous nieces and nephews, and three special friends, Pat Staabe, Janette Coover and Jill Collins.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; a special grandfather, Henry Cramer; an infant sister, Joan; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jean and Bill Rachuy.
