Obituary for James E. Self James E. Self, 64, of Le Mars passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Cedar Cemetery in Fonda, Iowa.

James Edward Self was born on October 13, 1951in Storm Lake, Iowa to Alvin and Shirley (Freeman) Self. He graduated from Marcus High School in 1970 and attended Western Iowa Technical Community College in Sioux City where he studied band instrument repair.

In 1971, James and Patricia Anderson were united in marriage. They were blessed with one son, Jason Edward. Later that year James was disabled in an auto accident. In 1979, he and Patricia were divorced and Jason was raised by his grandfather, Alvin G. Self.

James lived in several places in Iowa. While living in Ft. Dodge, he was active with the Salvation Army. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, country music and visiting with friends and family.

He is lovingly remembered by his son, Jason of Wahoo, Nebraska; sisters, Wanda Geringer and Donna Becker and her husband Wally all of Le Mars, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jeana Lee as well as a nephew, Brad Geringer.
