Izaac Michael Herbst, 24, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at All Saints Catholic Parish, St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Father Doug Klein will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at St. Joseph Church. There will be a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. followed by a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Thursday.

Izaac Michael Herbst was born on June 28, 1999, in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Michael and Cheri (Wiltgen) Herbst. He attended Gehlen Catholic Schools, graduating in 2018. He was currently employed at NorAm Cold Storage in Le Mars.

During his middle and high school years, Izaac participated in numerous sports. He played football, baseball, track and basketball. In his spare time, Izaac never turned down a game of Euchre with his family or a captain and coke with a lime downtown. He liked to hide his softer side, but there was no hiding it when he played with his niece and nephew, Haydyn and Waylon. He was the best uncle to them, and they will miss the endless laughs he provided. He loved to tease and always had a sly smirk that would light up a room. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and loved ones.

Grateful to have shared his life are his parents, Mike and Cheri Herbst of Le Mars, IA, siblings, Cayla Herbst and her daughter, Haydyn of Le Mars, IA, Austin Herbst and his wife, Lauren of Omaha, NE, Elliotte Herbst and her son, Waylon of Le Mars, IA and Ethan Herbst of Le Mars, IA; grandparents, Ron and Cheryl Wiltgen of Le Mars, IA and Mary Herbst of Le Mars, IA; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lloyd Herbst.
