Helen Fischer, 74, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa.

Abiding by her wishes, private family services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are with the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.mauerjohnsonfh.com.

Helen Elaine Dempster, the daughter of Darrel and Margie (Linderer) Dempster, was born on August 1, 1950.  She attended school in Remsen and graduated from Remsen-Union High School in 1968.

She was united in marriage to David Fischer on February 14, 1970.

Helen enjoyed taking care of other people.  During her life, she worked at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City and Plymouth Manor in Le Mars.  But her love for children led her into daycare.

She enjoyed sitting at the camper, enjoying all the neighbors.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, David Fischer; a son, Mathew (Janet) Fischer of Merrill, IA; a daughter, Heidi (Paul) Hartman of Le Mars, IA; her grandchildren, Kimberly (Jake) Scheitler, Sara (Alex) Singer, Brandon Fischer, Katelyn Hartman, and Nicole (Lucas) Hauser; her great grandchildren, Vivian Scheitler, Eve Scheitler, Wendell Singer, Kinley Singer, and Baby Hauser; her sister, Linda (Ken) Becker; her brother, Darrel Dempster Jr; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Thomas Dempster and Gary Dempster; her grandparents, Henry and Faye Dempster and Sam and Bessie Slater; and her in laws, John and Evelyn Fischer.
