Geraldine Ahrendsen, 84, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars.

Geraldine Ann Varenhorst, the daughter of William and Helen (Alvord) Varenhorst, was born on September 27, 1940, in Le Mars, Iowa. She attended country school in Plymouth County, Iowa, before going to high school in Le Mars. She graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1958. Following high school, she attended beautician school in Sioux City.

She was united in marriage to Alfred Ahrendsen in June of 1959 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. The couple made their home on a farm in Plymouth County, Iowa, before moving to Le Mars in 2010. Gerladine worked as a beautician for most of her life. She was also a homemaker for family on the farm.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling. She also enjoyed cooking, art painting, and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. Her family was her greatest joy. She loved spending time with them, especially with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Alfred Ahrendsen; a daughter and her family: Annette (Dale) Belding and their children, Kira Belding, Michael (Edelyn) Belding, and Meredith (Mark) Voyke; a daughter and her family: Carla (Richard) Roberts and their children, Sophie Roberts and Allison Roberts; 2 sisters; a brother and sister in law; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen Varenhorst; a sister in infancy; and her sister-in-law.
