Obituary for Gerald Francis Probst Jerry F. Probst, 84, of Le Mars passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. Father Richard Sitzmann will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars with military honors provided by Wasmer Post #241 of the American Legion. Visitation will begin at 2:00 on Sunday, August 17, 2014 with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. all at St. Joseph Catholic Church. There will be one hour of visitation prior to Mass on Monday at the church.

Gerald Francis Probst was born on June 16, 1930 in Le Mars, Iowa to Gerhard and Susan (Gengler) Probst. Jerry enlisted in the United States Army on February 21, 1952. He served during the Korean War and earned an Honorable Discharge February 9, 1954 having attained the rank of corporal.

On June 18, 1955 Jerry and Irene Rozman were united in marriage at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Sioux City, Iowa. They made their home on a farm west of Le Mars where they raised their family.

Jerry was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Wasmer Post #241 of the American Legion.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Irene of Le Mars; his children; Holly and Clarke Turner of Casper, WY, Dave and Nancy Probst of Le Mars, IA, Pat and Theresa Probst of Alton, IA, Rick and Julie Probst of Grimes, IA, DeeAnn and Dan Schreiner of Atlantic, IA and Mary Probst of Newton, IA; grandchildren, Brandon and Scott Turner, Greg, Derek, Sally, Claudia and Maria Probst, Jonathan, Justin, Jared, Kristin and Katelyn Probst, Taylor, Matthew, Alexa and Austin Probst, Sarah, Mark and Emily Schreiner; a great-granddaughter Averi Heie; sisters Rita and Ed Henrich of Remsen, IA and Louise and Stan Sitzmann of Cherokee, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his infant son Gerald; his parents; and sisters, Helen Farr, Agnes Miller and Rosemary Probst.

Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Le Mars or Hospice of Siouxland.
