Obituary for Genevieve J. Murphy (Scharf) Genevieve J. Murphy, 81, of Le Mars passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Mauer- Johnson Funeral Home with a one hour visitation prior to the service. Rev. Kolleen Queener will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at Maplewood Cemetery located in Luverne, Minnesota.

Genevieve J. Scharf was born on January 7, 1935 in Wishek, North Dakota, the daughter of
Edward and Magdelena (Gruebele) Scharf. She attended grade school in Wishek, followed by college at Westmar in Le Mars, IA and Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD. She then taught fourth grade in Luverne and enjoyed teaching until she retired in 1985. In 1983, Genevieve married Leslie J. Murphy in Luverne, MN. Together they enjoyed many summers at Arnolds Park and winters in Mesa, Arizona. They moved to Le mars in 1996. Genevieve was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Le Mars.

She is lovingly remembered by step children Jeanne Watson of Worthington, MN, William Murphy of Hudson, WI, and grandchildren Misty, Robin, Patrice, Shawn, and Mike as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and Brother William Scharf.
