Obituary

Obituary for Eugene Lavern Woolworth Eugene L. Woolworth, 82, of Le Mars passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at his home in Le Mars. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at All Saints Catholic Parish - St. James Church in Le Mars. Father Kevin Richter will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a Scripture Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Wednesday.

Eugene Lavern Woolworth was born on January 25, 1933 at James, Iowa, the son of Roy Claire and Mary Cecelia (McNaughton) Woolworth. He received his education at Hinton. Following school, Eugene assisted his family with farming.

On April 6, 1957, Eugene and Rose Mary Vondrak were united in marriage at Sioux City, Iowa. They made their home near Hinton. Eugene drove truck in the area and later worked with his uncle constructing homes in Sioux City. For most of his working life, Eugene worked as a diesel mechanic at Leased Trucks and Sioux City Truck Sales. He retired on May 19, 1997. During his retirement years he worked part-time as a machinist for Rockland Manufacturing Company. Eugene was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars.

He will be lovingly remembered by seven children, Karen Baker of Camden, MO, Roger Woolworth of Hubbard, IA, Christopher Woolworth of La Vista, NE, Timothy Woolworth of Brooklyn Park, MN, Laurie Decker and her husband Rick of Fond du Lac, WI, W. Neal Woolworth and his wife Belem of Brownwood, TX, Daniel Woolworth of Concord, NH; eight grandchildren, Shawn, Bradley, Megan, Kirsten, David, Jennifer, Matthew and Nicholas; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 55 years, Rose Mary; and a sister, Darlene Joan Woolworth.
