Obituary

Obituary for Estill Arlyn Lang Estill A. Lang, 83, of Le Mars passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Rev. Dr. Jean Ziettlow will officiate. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service on Monday.

Estill Arlyn Lang was born on October 3, 1931, in Le Mars, Iowa to Clarence and Margret (Schwiesow) Lang. He graduated from Le Mars High School in 1950. Estill proudly served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. After earning his honorable discharge, Estill returned to Le Mars.

On June 24, 1956, Estill and Shirley C. Warner were united in marriage at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. The couple moved to Boulder, Colorado where Estill worked building homes. He later worked for Meadow Gold Dairy. Estill and Shirley returned to Le Mars to raise their family. Estill worked as the Assistant Plymouth County Engineer for 34 years before retiring.

Estill was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Wasmer Post #241 of the American Legion in Le Mars. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Estill and Shirley also loved to dance.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Shirley of Le Mars; a daughter, Pam Charlson and her husband, Steve of Traverse City, MI and their children, Katie and Mike Yates (and their children, Anna, Gracie, Mia, Keller, Connor) and Jenny and Jake Kidder (and their daughter, Jayla); a daughter, Becky Bik and her husband John of Waterbury, NE and their family, Steve and Jessica Bik (and their sons, Hudson and Gunner), Michelle Bik and Kassandra Bik; a brother, Bobby and Ramona Lang of Le Mars, IA; sisters, Gloria and Chris Burkhard of Kerrville, TX and Debbie and Loren Schroeder of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister-in-law, Shirley Lang of Le Mars, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Norman.
