Obituary

Dennis E. Taylor, 62, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Unity Point Health in Sioux City. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. Christian Meier of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars with military honors conducted by Wasmer Post #241 of the American Legion. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home.

Dennis Earl Taylor was born on February 20, 1959, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of George and Mary (Hicks) Taylor. He graduated from East High School in Sioux City prior to enlisting in the United States Army. Dennis served eight years in Texas and overseas in Germany before earning an Honorable Discharge. He returned to Sioux City and began working at IBP.

On May 21, 1988, Dennis and Carol Hamann were united in marriage at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. He later worked at Tyson's in Orange City, Iowa for 24 years and most recently at Walmart in Le Mars.

Dennis enjoyed watching football, especially the Minnesota Vikings and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was also an avid reader and spent time working on his computer at home. He and Carol were active in their nieces and nephews lives, attending events and taking them on trips.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 33 years, Carol Taylor of Le Mars, IA; three sisters and their husbands, Gwyn and Ron Bergthold of Nashville, TN, Karen and Mark Jones of Spotsylvania, VA and Nancy and Randy Boeshart of Homer, AK; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gayle Maney of Merrill, IA, Joyce (Clifford) Boehning of Amarillo, TX, Carlene Hamann of Danbury, IA, Phyllis Hamann of Le Mars, IA and Brent Schmidt of Amarillo, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Ann; mother-in-law and father -in-law, William and Mildred Hamann; sisters-in-law, Judy Hamann and Tamie Schmidt; and a brothers-in-law, Lynn Hamann and Glenn Hamann.
