Dale Wilfred Dorr was born February 8, 1920, to William and Irene (Ohlendorf) Dorr. He attended country school, helped his dad on the farm and then moved to California to work in an aircraft plant.

The love of his life, Dorothy Seggerman followed him and they were married January 4, 1941. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters. Dale was assigned to the glider division in the United States Army and served from 1941 to 1945 in the United States, England and France. He was lifelong member of The American Legion.

When he returned home after the war, he worked for Well's Blue Bunny in Le Mars, Iowa and Marcus Oil Cooperative before farming south of Marcus. After Dale and Dorothy moved to Marcus, Dale took a position with the Marcus Cooperative Elevator and worked there until he retired. Dale was an active church member, serving on the school board at Trinity Lutheran Church and on the grounds committee of Peach Lutheran Church. For over twenty years he cleaned and maintained the Braille Machine used by the Peace Lutheran Ladies Aide. Dale enjoyed the quiet of the farm, using his hands to build things of wood and time with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Pat) Merkel of Ann Arbor, Michigan; son-in-law, Tom Eischen and granddaughters, Martha (Jason) Grubaugh of Fort Riley, Kansas, Barb Eischen of Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Jackie (Jaye) Johnson and great-grandson, Hunter of Marcus, Iowa; and a brother, Craig (Sue) Dorr of Marcus, Iowa. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews of the Dorr and Seggerman families.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and a daughter, Linda Eischen.

Memorials may be directed to the Heartland Care Center in Marcus.
