Le Mars, Iowa – Christy M. Weed, 65, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, July 21, 2024. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024, at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Pastor Mike Metten will officiate. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. with the family present from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Christy Marie Weed was born in Le Mars on December 13, 1958, to Herman Bremer and Patricia (Junker) Denney. Although she spent the majority of her life in Le Mars, Christy spent 13 years of her childhood living in California. After moving back to Iowa, she graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1977. Christy continued to live and work locally. Throughout her life, she worked at Tony's Drive-In, Hardees, Hy-Vee, Walmart and Brentwood Good Samaritan Village. She also owned and operated her restaurant, Frydaze, from which she retired in March 2022.

Family was of great importance to Christy. She shared a long and loving partnership with her husband, Martin "Marty" Weed from 1975 until her passing. The couple brought three children into the world, Shawn Patrick, Travis Martin and Shannon Marie. Christy enjoyed reading, watching movies, thrift shopping and decorating.

She is survived by her husband, Marty of Le Mars, IA; her son, Travis (Nicole) Weed of Superior, CO; her daughter, Shannon Wiltgen of Sioux Falls, SD; grandson, Carter Weed of Golden, CO; mother, Pat Denney of Le Mars, IA; father and stepmother, Herman and Beverly Bremer of Le Mars, IA; mother-in-law, Doris Barrett of Pueblo, CO; sisters, Susan (Jim) Plueger of Le Mars, IA and Julie (Rusty) Schoenherr of Sioux City, IA.

Christy is reunited in peace with her loved ones who passed before, her son, Shawn Patrick Weed; sister, Laura Nelson; grandmothers, Kathleen Junker and Jennie Bremer; godparents, Joe and Vivian Bortscheller; father-in-law, Roy Weed; and a niece, Katie Rohmiller.
