On August 14, 1965, Charlie and Susan Walter were united in marriage at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. He began his career at Whelen Motors and Aesop and Sons. He then spent 15 years with Walker's Ditching where he learned many valuable skills and made life-long friends. He finished his career with 27 years of service to the City of Le Mars as both Street Superintendent and Public Works Supervisor.

Charlie and Susie retired in 2007 and spent eight unforgettable winters in Arizona enjoying friends, nature, and each other's company. They were blessed to spend most of these winters with Charlie's brother, Nick Eufers and his wife, Junia.

In his spare time, Charlie took joy in yard work, gardening, wood-working, bird watching, and morning coffee with The Truck Stop Gang.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 50 years, Susie Eufers of Le Mars, Iowa; two daughters, Carol Stark and her husband, Rob and Jessica Wichers and her husband, Travis both of Urbandale, Iowa; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Ashley Stark; a brother, Nick Eufers and his wife, Junia of Ocean Park, Washington; a brother-in-law, Marvin Kunkel of Remsen, Iowa; and his canine sidekick, Scooter.
