Obituary

Obituary for Barbara Jean Brock (Gebauer) Le Mars, Iowa – Barbara J. Brock, 77, of Elkhorn, Nebraska, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Life Care Center of Elkhorn. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Pastor Don Gordon will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 with the family present from 5-7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Barbara Jean Brock was born January 1, 1941 in Alton, IA to Ralph and Wilmina (Kleinhesselink) Gebauer. She moved as a very young child to Orange City, where she lived until marrying Gerald 'Jerry' Brock on August 14, 1959 at the American Reformed Church in Orange City. To this union, two sons and a daughter were born. The family made their home in Le Mars.

Most of her years were spent as a homemaker. Later Barb worked as a Seamstress at Barnyard Basics for 6 years and a Home Health Aid in Le Mars for 19 years until she retired in 2006. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, playing games and cards, camping, boating, and spending time with her family and friends. Barb also enjoyed attending her family's sporting and music events. In later years, she enjoyed vacationing with her daughter's family. Barb's family meant the world to her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband; Gerald 'Jerry', children; Randy (Lisa) Brock of Fort Worth, TX, Craig (Sarah) Brock of Le Mars, Peggy (Randy) Seggerman of Omaha, grandchildren; Brandon, Tyler & Adam Brock, Amanda Brock, Justin Seggerman, Kyle Seggerman, Andrew Brock, Breanna Seggerman, Katie Brock, and Alex Seggerman, great-grandchildren; Lane, Noah, Owen, Ryley, Dillon, Jordyn, Harper, Elliot and Zowie, a brother; Ralph 'Dutch' (Carol) Gebauer of Sioux Falls, SD, and a brother in law; Verne Wielenga of Orange City.

She was preceded in death by parents, and two sisters; Joan (Duane) Poppen, and Myrna Wielenga.
