Arvin Lee Daniels, one of six children to Leonard Sr and Audrey (McDonald) Daniels, was born on March 12, 1942, near Smithland, Iowa. At the age of 6, he moved with his family to a farm west of Merrill, Iowa, where he attended country school at Liberty Consolidated. His senior year, he went to Le Mars Central and graduated in 1960.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force on November 18, 1960. He was a jet mechanic while in the service. He was stationed for two and half years in Nashville. He spent the last year and half traveling the world, repairing plane engines. He was honorably discharged on November 17, 1964. Following his discharge, he returned to Merrill.

After his service, he hoped to continue farming. When land was not available, he found another way forward through the open road. For more than 50 years, Arvin worked as a long haul truck driver, traveling across 48 states and into Canada. It was a career built on independence, endurance, and pride.

He was united in marriage to Bonnie Lou Modlin on April 25, 1987, in Merrill, Iowa. With this marriage, he gained another daughter in addition to his 3 children. The couple made their home in Kingsley, Iowa. They later moved to Moville, Iowa. Bonnie passed away on November 7, 2022.

He was a member of the Moville United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Oleson-Halweg American Legion Post 125 in Merrill. He was also a Mason with the Attica Masonic Lodge 502 A.F. and A.M. of Sloan, Iowa. Over the years, he enjoyed golfing and watching Jeopardy.
