Obituary

Arlis Luedtke, 91, of Le Mars, Iowa, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars.

Services of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. James Church in Le Mars. Father Doug Klein will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary at 3:45 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.mauerjohnsonfh.com.

Arlis Ann Langel, the daughter of Theodore and Caroline (Kunkel) Langel, was born on January 14, 1934, on the family farm in Oyens, Iowa. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in LeMars, graduating in 1952. Following school, Arlis worked at LeMars Savings Bank.

On November 3, 1953, Arlis was united in marriage to J. Wallace 'Wally' Luedtke at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in LeMars, Iowa. Wally and Arlis were married for 55 years until his death in 1998. For 28 years they worked together in the family business, the Luedtke Funeral Home, until their retirement in 1981. They enjoyed their retirement continuing their annual trips to various Minnesota lakes for fishing and family gatherings. Spending time traveling visiting their children, attending grandchildren's special events, and attending fantastic Luedtke Family Reunions.

She was a member of All Saints Catholic – St. James Church in Le Mars. Arlis loved music and shared her sweet soprano voice in thechurch choir for many years. She was also a longtime member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Her family will remember her as a beautiful mother and grandmother, a patient and loving caregiver, a gracious hostess, and a wonderful cook to include the family's favorites such as her delicious cinnamon rolls, wild rice, homemade apple jelly and her delightful Christmas treats.

Survivors include her children: Beth (Charles) Peters of Le Mars, IA, Jeanne (Jeff) Steinkamp of McCook Lake, SD, and James 'Jay' Luedtke of Le Mars, IA; her step children: Mary Kay Bryant of San Luis Obispo, CA, and J. Steven Luedtke of Panama City, FL; her grandchildren: Kirk (Lea) Peters and their children, Reece and Riley; Kim Hawley and her daughter, Madison; Nicholas Peters and his children, Nichole and Allie; Kevin Peters and his children, Max and Sophia; Ben Steinkamp; Michael (Heather) Steinkamp, Caitlin (Justin) Hoesing and their children, Henry and Grant; Stephanie (Don) Colton and their children, Abby and Sam; and Robin (Paul) Ellensohn and their children, Dominic, Adam, Isaac, and Isabelle; her In-laws: Wayne Mousel of Le Mars, IA, and Donna Jonas Langel of Le Mars, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Langel, Caroline Langel Donlin, and Lester Donlin; her husband, J. Wallace 'Wally' Luedtke; her daughter, Julie Luedtke; and her siblings: Robert Langel, Larry 'Butch' Langel, and Marlene Mousel.
