Obituary for Linda Faye Siple (Paslay)

Linda Faye  Siple (Paslay)
Linda F, Siple, 69, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 3, 2017. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Rev. Timothy Geitz will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.

Linda Faye Siple was born on March 9, 1947 in Cherokee, Iowa, one of three children born to Robert and LaVonne (Hurd) Paslay. She graduated from Meriden-Cleghorn High School in 1965 and furthered her education at the Le Mars Beauty College.

On December 30, 1968, Linda and James Siple were united in marriage at the Cherokee United Methodist Church. When Jim returned from the Vietnam War, the couple made their home in Le Mars. Linda worked as a cosmetologist at Gingham Girls in Sioux City, Iowa. She would later join Jim and operate the Pantry Café in Le Mars. Along with owning the café, Linda opened The Right Match, a store that specialized in tennis equipment and clothing.

After closing The Right Match, Linda took classes at Western Iowa Technical Community College in Sioux City where she studied as a surgery technician. She began in the housekeeping department at Floyd Valley Hospital and later worked as a surgical technician’s assistant. Linda retired from Floyd Valley Hospital in the spring of 2013 having last worked in the physical therapy department.

Linda was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars and participated in the Sarah Circle. She had been active in the Le Mars Tennis Association and Beta Sigma Pi. She also belonged to a bowling league and hobby clubs.

Grateful to have shared her life is her husband of 48 years, Jim Siple of Le Mars, IA; two daughters, Heidi and Cory Nemmers and their children, Maddie and Mikaila Huedepohl, Evan and Jacob Nemmers of Le Mars, IA; Amy and Eric Walkingstick and their children, Hunter and Cade Walkingstick of Akron, IA; a brother, Dennis and Linda Paslay of St. Charles, IL; along with nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Glen and Valira Siple; and a sister, Deborah Payne.
