Helen E. Pedersen, 92, of Omaha, NE, formerly of Marcus and Shenandoah, Iowa, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Heritage Pointe Assisted Living in Omaha. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Holy name Catholic Church in Marcus. Father Daniel C. Guenther will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Holy Name Catholic Church and will continue until Mass.
Helen Elizabeth Pearson was born on January 22, 1924 in Marcus, Iowa, the daughter of John and Selma (Klingborg) Pearson. She is a graduate of Marcus High School.
On January 22, 1943, Helen and Norman (Bill) William Pedersen were united in marriage at Rapid City, South Dakota. They made their home in Marcus, Iowa where they farmed and later Bill was employed by the Marcus Golf Club. In 1971 Helen and Bill moved to Shenandoah, Iowa where Bill was the Superintendent of the American Legion Golf Course. Helen worked as a waitress at the club and other establishments including the Tall Corn Motel and Al’s in Shenandoah until her retirement in 2013.
Helen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shenandoah, Iowa.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, JoAnn and husband Jim Webb of Grass Valley, CA; her son, Douglas and wife Jody Pedersen of Omaha, NE; grandson, Kevin Webb and wife Karla, and great-grandchildren, Kevin Webb Jr. and wife Grace, Katelyn Webb, Kinsey Webb, Kylee Webb, Kirsten Webb, great-great-grandson, Eli Webb, grandson, Tim Webb, and great-grandchildren, Derek Webb and Tyler Webb, granddaughter, Kristine Webb, great-grandchildren, Cristopher Webb and wife Amber, Cassandra Clarkson-Webb, Jake Mason, great-great-granddaughter, Edin Webb, granddaughter, Deb Shuford and husband John, great-grandchildren, Noah and Caleb Shuford, grandson, Andy Pedersen and his wife, Louise and great-grandchildren, Beau, Sam and Henry Pedersen, granddaughter, Laura Lombardo and her husband, Spencer and great-grandchildren, Jack, Ben and Macy Jane Lombardo, granddaughter, Carrie Rowell and her husband, Chris and great-grandchildren, Mason and Beckett Rowell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son, Steven W. Pedersen; a great-grandson, LCpl John Anthony Lucente; sisters, Ethel Ogren, Margaret Carey and Donna Carlson; and brothers, Paul and Clarence Pearson.
