Obituary for Elizabeth Magdalena "Liz" Foreman (Haag)

Elizabeth M. “Liz” Foreman, 74, of Le Mars passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Parish - St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Father Kevin Richter will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Saturday.

Elizabeth Magdalena Foreman was born on June 29, 1942 in Hospers, Iowa, the daughter of Sylvester and Mary (Kiersch) Haag. She was raised on the family farm near Hospers where she attended school. Her last year of high school was spent in Granville. Following high school graduation in 1960, Liz attended the National Business School in Sioux City. Her first job was with a trucking firm in Hospers.

On January 6, 1962, Liz and Robert Foreman were united in marriage at Hospers. Together they opened Bob’s Bike Shop in Le Mars. After operating in a few locations in Le Mars, they constructed the current location on highway 75 north. Bob passed away in a motorcycle accident in 1968. Liz was able to maintain the shop by taking on a partner, Buck Fiedler. They later expanded to Sioux City, Iowa with Sioux City Yamaha and Harley Davidson. During a few of those years they also operated a Kawasaki dealership in Vermillion, South Dakota and Ponca, Nebraska. Their last expansion was Yamaha Golf and Equipment before Liz sold her share of the business in 2000.

Liz was a member of All Saints Parish in Le Mars. She spent 54 consecutive years attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. This year was the first she missed due to her health. She was an avid bowler and belonged to the Eagles Auxiliary. Liz enjoyed collecting several things including, Japanese Dolls, Elvis memorabilia and Sturgis/Harley-Davidson pieces. She spent leisure time in her flower and vegetable gardens and enjoyed traveling. Her summers were spent relaxing at her vacation home on Lake Shetek, Minnesota. Recent winters were spent in Arizona with friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Blaine Foreman and Taage (Michelle) Foreman; special friend, Vern Hoops all of Le Mars, IA; grandchildren, Alissa Foreman, Abbey (Brett Armstrong) Foreman, Cassie (Josh) Jacobsen, Harley Foreman and Raine Foreman; great-grandchildren, Haley and Kyler; a brother, Charles Haag of Sheldon, IA; and a sister, Dolly (Cliff) Schlichte of Granville, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; and her siblings, Bernie, Agnes, Antoinette, Rosemary, Kenneth and Paul.
