Obituary for Mabel "Hank" Stefanie Durr (Henry)

Mabel “Hank” Stefanie Henry Durr , 69 of LeMars died at home with her husband by her side following a battle with cancer.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Online condolences may be given at www.mauerjohnsonfh.com.

Mabel “Hank” Stefanie (Henry) Durr was born December 16, 1946 in Maroldsweisach, Germany to Emmett W. Henry and Stefanie (Kuhajewski) Henry while he served in the U.S Army, her family returned to live in Kingsley, IA where she attended Catholic school. After school she moved to LeMars, met Terry L Durr , their first date was April 1, 1966 and they were married August 8, 1966. She returned to Germany for a short time to be with Terry as he served in the U.S. Army. Upon returning to the states they lived the majority of their marriage in LeMars, IA.

Mabel “Hank” worked various jobs from Civilian Secretary for the Army Nat’l Guard to managing motels but spent the bulk of her career as a Buyer for Harkers and Tyson. She always had a direct marketing adventure on the side from jewelry to candles, houseplants to makeup.
She loved to read, make handmade crafts, cook, laugh and tell stories.

She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Terry , 4 daughters that include Angel(Rick) Irwin, Suzette”Suzie”Harms, Tiffany(Rob)Hansen, Brandy Nicks(Danny Homan) 16grandchildren Chance, Arianna, Shaylee Irwin, Lakin (Andrew)Erdman, Trey and Alexes”Lexi” Utesch, Jayden,Reese,Lainey Harms, Samantha and Tyler VanGrouw, Nova, Ellie, Gunner Hansen, Madison and KC Nicks , 2 great granddaughters, Riddley and Olive Erdman and a great grandchild to be born in December. A brother, Bill (Tracy) Henry and their son Derrick, a sister Maria (Dale)(Henry) Bales and their sons Alex and Zach, and many other special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Amanda Hughes, her parents, a brother, Steven Henry and a Father-in-law Orville Durr.
