Dorothy J. Norris, 84, of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Earnest – Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus. Rev. Ron Rice of Grace United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Marcus Amherst Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Dorothy Jean Norris was born on March 23, 1932 in Marcus, Iowa, the second of five daughters born to Irvin and Mildred (Blietz) Broblek. She attended school in Marcus and lived in Marcus most of her life. She married Irvin Norris who passed away in 1958. Along with being a homemaker, Dorothy worked for the school lunch program from 1972 to 1975.

Dorothy enjoyed puzzles and playing Bingo. She was an avid bowler in younger years and later, at Heartland Care Center, she bowled on the Wii. She loved flower gardening and helping others. Dorothy was very competitive and enjoyed playing games. She has been a resident at Heartland since 2002.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Dempster of Le Mars, IA and Kristina Norris of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Jessica Dempster of Correctionville, IA and Jason Dempster and his wife Tonya of Le Mars, IA; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Peterson of Marcus, IA, Gladys Walters of Milford, IA, Betty (Mrs. Harold) Kaiser of Crestview, FL and JoAnn Fenn of Montrose, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Irvin.
