Merrill, Iowa – Viola Lambert, 89, of rural Merrill, Iowa passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Merrill First United Methodist Church in Merrill. Rev. Merrill Mueller will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Merrill. Visitation will begin Friday, January 29 at 2 p.m. with the family present from 5-7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service on Saturday.

Viola Mary Lambert was born on April 7, 1926 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Clara (Miller) McClintock. She began her education in Brunsville, Iowa and finished in Le Mars. On September 26, 1946 Viola and Robert Evert Lambert were united in marriage at the First United Methodist Church in Le Mars. The couple made their home on farms near Brunsville and Le Mars before settling at their present home on a farm near Merrill, Iowa.

Viola and Bob farmed together for many years. She also helped Bob with Lambert Auto Body which they operated from their farm. Viola was a member of Merrill First United Methodist Church. On the farm she raised ducks and chickens along with her dogs and horses. She enjoyed taking care of the home place, especially flower gardening and mowing. In her spare time she attended craft shows, embroidery and decorating cakes with her daughter-in-law, Susan. In later years when Viola stayed closer to home, she enjoyed visiting on the phone with relatives and friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son and his wife, Bob and Susan Lambert and a granddaughter, Brittany Lambert all of rural Merrill, IA; nieces and their families, Leah (Neil) McBeath of Tacoma, WA, Lennice Carlson of Sioux City, IA; Earline (Gary) Asmussen of Barrington, IL; Mary Lou (Bob) Foster of Barrington, IL along with other nieces and nephews; a cousin Judy Taylor of Palm Spring, CA; good friend and classmate, Paula Lawrensen of Vermillion, SD; and close family friend, Donna Rae Cornish of Ireton, IA.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert on April 11, 2012; brothers, Hilbert, Bob, Andrew and Jim.
