Obituary for Kermit Johnson Clark

Kermit J. Clark, 58, of Granville, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at his home surrounded by family. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Le Mars. Rev. Jon Meredith will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2016 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.

Kermit Johnson Clark was born on January 10, 1958 in Loma Linda, California to Rollie and Judy (Glennie) Clark. The family lived in in Mondamin, Iowa where Kermit attended school and lived with his grandparents, Ada and Kermit Clark. In 1972, Kermit and his family moved to Le Mars, Iowa. Along with his grandparents, his aunt and uncle Edith and Freddie Goodchild helped raise Kermit. After graduating from Le Mars Community High School in 1976, Kermit attended Westmar College.

In 1979, Kermit moved to California, started a construction company and earned his general contractors license in 1982. He returned to Le Mars in 1990 and took a position with Wiltgen Construction. On August 29, 1992, Kermit and Renee Plueger were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Le Mars. He began his current position with McCormick Construction in 2007 where he built ethanol plants and silos.

Kermit was happy at home remodeling and tinkering in the garage. He belonged to the Granville Improvement Club and a horseshoe league. He attended pedal tractor pulls for the kids and go-kart races. He liked to watch figure 8 racing, the Oakland Raiders and listen to Bob Seger. He always enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Renee Clark of Granville, IA; daughters and their children, Kyla (Eric) Peters, Alyssa, Dustyn, Cali and Eli of Le Mars, IA, Kendra (James) Gloden and Camron of Le Mars, IA, Kari (Chris) Dominguez and Audriana of Granville, IA; Kelsey (R.J.) Clark, Madison and Raylun of Granville, IA; brothers and sisters, Kevin (Jane) Clark, Caitlin and Emma of New Hope, MN, Bobbi Lynn Gileno of Redlands, CA, Stephanie (David) Clark of Braselton, GA, Chris ( Brenda) Greenfield of Ashland, NE, and Carri (Chris) Bender of Palos Verdes Estates, California; an aunt, Edith Goodchild and her family of Le Mars, IA; mother-in-law, Betty Plueger of Le Mars, IA; a brother-in-law, Rick (Brenda) Plueger, Nicole, Christopher, and Derek of Le Mars, IA; several nieces and nephews as well as his furry friend, Dozer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; grandson, Aiden; father-in-law Larry Plueger; and his dogs, Boscoe, Roxy and Kasey.
