Obituary for Charmaine Bernadette Hunter (Jolin)

Charmaine B. Hunter, 86, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at her daughter’s home surrounded by family. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Remsen Community Cemetery in Remsen, Iowa. A gathering of family and friends will follow at Valerie’s home.

Charmaine B. Hunter was born on September 27, 1928 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Edna (Kratz) Jolin. She attended St. Boniface Catholic School in Sioux City. She later worked as an elevator operator at the Badgerow Building.

On May 11, 1946, Charmaine married Russell E. Hunter in Ponca, Nebraska. They made their first home in Sioux City. They later moved to Spencer, Iowa. Charmaine and Russell relocated to Des Moines, Iowa where they owned and operated Hunter Carpets in West Des Moines. Upon their retirement, they moved to Russ’ hometown where they lived for 15 years. After living in Remsen, the couple moved to Stuart and Norwalk, Iowa to be closer to their children. In 2007, Russ passed away so Charmaine moved with her daughter, Valerie to Le Mars.
