Obituary for Dorothy L. Warnock

Dorothy L.  Warnock
Dorothy L. Warnock, 94, of rural Merrill, Iowa passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Brentwood Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Merrill First United Methodist Church. Rev. Merrill Muller will officiate. Family graveside service will take place prior to the funeral at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. The family will be present from 6-8 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled for 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral.

Dorothy Lillian Warnock was born on November 5, 1920 in Merrill, Iowa the daughter of Luverne and Pearl (Petersen) Schulz. She attended country school and graduated from Liberty High School.

Dorothy and Wayne Warnock were married on December 28, 1940 in Merrill. The couple farmed near Hinton, Iowa for five years before returning to the family farm near Merrill. Wayne and Dorothy raised Dairy Cattle until 1979, later switching to stock cows.

Dorothy was a member of Merrill First United Methodist Church and participated in United Methodist Women. She and Wayne participated in many milk producing associations including the Sioux City Milk Producers and the Mid-American Milk Producers. They also belonged to many cattlemen’s associations including the American Angus Association, Iowa Cattlemen’s Association and the Plymouth County Cattlemen’s Association. They were members of Farm Bureau for over 50 years.

She will be missed by a son, Dr. Gary Warnock and his wife Jane of Laytonsville, MD; grandchildren, Erik Warnock of Aspen Hill, MD, Emily Morris and her husband Chris of Woodbine, MD, and Dr. Alicia Warnock and her husband Pierre Beauregard of Kensington, MD; four great-grandchildren, Colette, Kaleigh, Lucien and Brooklynn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne on April 11, 2007; sister, Arlene Botsworth, brothers, Leonard and his wife Helen, Lester “Bud” and his wife Gladys, and Dowayne Schulz

Memorials may be directed to the Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars.
