Dorothy L.  Kilker (Loutsch)
Dorothy L. Kilker, 87, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at St James Catholic Church in Le Mars. Father Paul Eisele will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. A combined Rosary by the Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers will begin at 4:00 p.m. followed by a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Wednesday.

Dorothy Laverne Kilker was born on August 19, 1926 near Oyens, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Rose (Hunt) Loutsch. She attended school in Oyens. On February 10, 1948 Dorothy and Robert Kilker were united in marriage at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens.

Dorothy and Robert made their home on a farm south of Le Mars. Together they farmed and raised their sons. In 1985, Dorothy and Robert retired and moved to Le Mars. Robert passed away on January 5, 1995. Most recently, Dorothy has lived at Bavarian Meadows in Remsen, Iowa.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. She participated in Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed sewing and knitting along with gardening and canning.

Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her sons, William and Kenneth and his wife Catherine both of Le Mars; grandchildren, Jennifer (Andy) Boyle, Stephanie (Michael) Hein and Brian (Jerra) Kilker; a great-grandson Landon Boyle; a sister Mary (Ben) Wells of Cherokee, Iowa; a brother, Ray Loutsch of Oyens, Iowa; sisters-in-law Wilma Loutsch of Dysart, Iowa, Lorna Loutsch of Westfield, Iowa and Mae Kilker of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; brothers, Robert Loutsch, Orville Loutsch, William (Rosie) Loutsch, Ronald Loutsch and Jerome Loutsch; brother-in-law Ed Kilker; sisters-in-law Ruth (Loren) Behrens, Lorraine (Harry) Brunkhorst, Joan Loutsch and a nephew Joe Loutsch.

Memorials in Dorothy’s name may be directed to St. James Catholic Church or Gehlen Catholic Schools.
